Currently the principal clarinetist of the Fort Collins Symphony Orchestra and the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra, Bradford Behn has also held positions with the Savannah Symphony Orchestra as 2nd, Eb, and Bass clarinetist and the Tulsa Philharmonic Orchestra as 2nd and Eb clarinetist. Recent experiences include performances with the Iris Chamber Orchestra, the Baltimore Symphony, Utah Symphony, Colorado Symphony, Alabama Symphony, San Antonio Symphony and the Charleston Symphony Orchestras.
Bradford received his Bachelors and Masters degrees in clarinet performance at Northwestern University, where he studied with Robert Marcellus. Very active as an educator, he has been guest lecturer and clinician at Northwestern University, McGill University, University of Texas, University of Colorado, University of Northern Colorado, University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University, and Aspen Music Festival. He has also been the sabbatical replacement at the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University. In addition to his performance and educational responsibilities, Brad has been involved in mouthpiece acoustics. He has customized clarinet and saxophone mouthpieces for musicians around the world. Since 1992, his small mouthpiece refacing business has blossomed into a full service woodwind mouthpiece company, serving a large international clientele.
In September 2005, Brad introduced his newest line of clarinet mouthpieces, featuring hard rubber that is an exact reproduction of the material used in 1930's vintage Chedeville clarinet mouthpieces. The Vintage Collection can be seen at www.clarinetmouthpiece.com |
